Update 8/17 - New board going live today.
Update 8/14 - ***Migration work continues. Estimate Go Live to new board 8/17***
Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member's experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.
Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.
Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.
We remain the world's largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.
So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.
A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.
We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

He is saying that because they are "milled" and not hand ground, so when he gets a new set of wedges it will be the same as his last set. Whether they will be mass produced and available to the public is a different story.

@Shilgy
for example. Here’s tigers lob vs gary woodlands “ tw” lob wedge. Notice the MG emblem and it’s relation to the toe outline. Also the leading edge grind on tigers. And the artisan player number.
Top one is tigers. Bottom is gary’s. Not same same.

In the post of mine you quoted I said the TW grind is NOT the same as retail. But he likes that he can get as many as he needs and they are all perfect because of how they are manufactured.

If you’re agreeing with me I don’t know what you’re saying ?
Tigers wedge isn’t close to the retail shape as I posted pics above. The toe and whole outline is rounder. You can’t order that shape from TM.

I know that. The post you originally replied to had stated no one would have imagined Tiger player TM mass produced wedges. And they are mass produced as the grind is just computer milled. But, as we both stated they are not a retail grind. So not available at relationships but they are mass produced. Capiche?

Sure. They took MTs work and copied it into code so that they could mill his wedges and irons. But I bet that never becomes retail , I bet TM doesn’t own it. But they will sell a close facsimile and let you believe it’s the exact same. Just like the irons. Marketing machine.

Can anyone tell me his precise iron lofts? Thanks.

Interesting looking at that, after being for an Artisan fitting you can see the changes from Tigers to Woodlands; they talk about that with their final grinding etc.

Geez Blade...no one said they are the same as retail or available retail. The reason Tiger likes them is because they are able to be mass produced-exact grind is computer generated. In the past it was an excruciating process to get the grind and feel precisely correct for him.
But I am not sure why you believe TM could not sell the same grind if they wanted to. Are the P7TW the same grind or not?

I didn’t state any absolutes.
And im not sure at all what the disagreement is with my original post. You’re going to have to lead me there. I don’t know what you are disagreeing with.
Tm will sell a TW branded wedge that isn’t like tigers. That’s a great marketing machine. That’s all I said.

Are they going to sell a TW grind? I had not heard that. But if they do what makes you think they could not retail it? Does someone own the rights to a particular grind? If so how were the TW irons sold?

Why else brand them TW for other players ? Of course they will market these. Tm is out to make money.
Youll have tp go read the tw irons thread for the differences. It starts with material they made them out of.
therea a reason why his irons and wedges carry an artisan number and former artisan players like Rory’s clubs don’t. It has to do with who builds them.
In other words. If you spent years and years perfecting a recipe , would you hand off your work to someone else for free ? I wouldn’t. The evidence says that work wasn’t handed off to TM here. By the branding of that works owner. No ?

Thanks! Still, I'm wondering why there are two 60* wedges in his bag - maybe a different grind, weight, or length?

Yes, my guess would be he is testing some sort of change to the grind or slightly different head shape. I'd imagine Tiger is pretty set on what he likes in terms of swing weight and club length.

I’d assume it’s something with the grind and bounce. Maybe one for softer conditions and one for firmer?

Two different bounces, one high one low....depending on course conditions

He has a long history of hanging on to old 5-woods through several product cycles. My guess is that it doesn't go anywhere until the next one.
