Update 8/17 - New board going live today.

Update 8/14 - ***Migration work continues. Estimate Go Live to new board 8/17***

Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member's experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.

Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.

Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.

We remain the world's largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.

So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.

A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.

We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

Sitting in Disney Hollywood Studios waiting for our turn in Oga's Cantina. Might as well start the new thread. I may ask mods to move CDM's latest discussion to this thread instead.

Gear, I'm hoping to figure out a putter and stroke to stick with. Also experimenting with the TM Original One as my driver and fairway wood in one. I like the versatility but it is not forgiving at all.

Trips, hoping to get to Bandon again and play Sheep Ranch. Looking at Payne's Valley as well in MO. After that, not sure, really just want to play a lot of courses in the State.

Goal is to make it to one of the USGA championships. Realistically the Mid-Am but feel like the Am is doable for me as well with US Open a long shot/pipe dream lol. Other than that, shoot under par more often.

Saturday is looking like 48 degrees roughly so if the wind stays down that might be good for 9 or 18. Will be range time for sure.

OK - let's try this again, now that I'm in the 2020 thread...

I'm thinking about my 2020 golf season much earlier than normal (usually don't start thinking about golf until April). I'm trying to decide whether I should play the GC Am Tour or the Golfweek tour this coming season and they both start in April (usually I don't start tournament play until May). I'm interested in anyone's thoughts on these 2 tours and other open tournaments that are well run and fun to play in. Working on getting my 2020 golf schedule drafted up. Please help me decide my tournament golf schedule for 2020. TIA :)

I know @jacobEDGE has played in the GolfWeek Am Tour in the past. I think he liked it.

Looking at getting a round in this weekend, not sure where to play quite yet.

I'm OK with travelling just about anywhere, as of now its just me so if anyone has a round planned and looking for someone to join just let me know.

I'm in Portland since Monday morning for work but hows the melt-off looking around town so far this week?

I have a round at Commonground set up for Sunday, looking forward to it i love that course!

Hit em straight guys, and happy golf new year to you all!

There is still a bit of snow on the ground, especially (and obviously) in shaded areas. Today is the last real "warm" day. Long-range forecast shows not getting above 50 for a while, with chances of flurries/snow every few days. If anyone wants to organize an outing to South Broadway CC, I would certainly be interested depending on my schedule.

I managed to sneak out for nine this afternoon at Walnut Creek. Felt good just to get out, don’t think I’ve played since October.

I've done GC am tour and it's good. There is a lot of competition in the Hogan and Palmer flights. Everyone is friendly and talkative. The obnoxious angry golfer is few and far between. However, if you're a champ flight guy, some of the tournaments had no one sign up. So I didn't play too much last year. Also if you're a scratch flight guy, the CGA points events are the ones you'll want to do as they're two day events with a lot of the fees go to prizes.

What are the typical tournament fees for each event? Looks like I would probably land in the Hogan flight.

Fees, I believe, are in the $125-$150 range. The cool part about the GC am tour is the majors, where you can travel to locations and play tournaments at nice courses. Those events are more but sometimes the entry fee is actually lower than the standard green fee.

Collindale Golf Course in Fort Collins has not had a single round of golf played since the big snow just before Thanksgiving. There is still too much snow on the course to play. Range is open (albeit on mats). I need to start hitting balls to get back in the swing of things (sorry for the pun).

I am in Loveland every Tuesday for work and noticed it's still sticking to the courses. South it has been melting.

Today when I got up here it was 16 degress. The cold has halted alot of the construction work we have going for the districts.

I played Riverdale Dunes on Saturday last week and conditions were pretty good, ground wasn't too frozen could even go for the green without bouncing off the back.

Wind kicked up on 17 and it got cold pretty quick but was a fun round, was playing from the tips which i don't normally do (guys i was playing with wanted to play them) made clearing the water on 18 very interesting lol.

I played Common ground on Sunday and it was pretty frozen and not quite as thawed out as Riverdale, would need to layup short unless you were coming in from 100 or less since greens were hard enough to bounce the balls around a bit.

Also as hard as the fairways at common ground were the roll-out was putting the ball in the tall grass which was making it difficult too find the ball on some very serviceable shots.

The wind on Sunday kept it colder than Saturday, but glad to be able to get 2 rounds in back to back and see that my swing hasn't fallen apart with a month long break between rounds lol.

Weather is looking good all week so hopefully some of the other courses open up, i have a Friday at Willis Case and Sunday at Kennedy so looking forward to another weekend full of golf.

I did count my rounds for last year and i played just over 100 days of golf (mostly 18 but some 9 holes thrown in there) that's a lot of golf!

I must not have the golf bug as bad as others since I turned down an opportunity to play on Sunday for free. I think I’m going to hold out for a little warmer weather. I’m sure in another month or so I’ll be jonesing to swing a club

Wear your thin ski layers, get some good winter golf gloves and it's very warm and enjoyable as long as you go out after 11 when the greens aren't frozen. Sunday turned out pretty nice. I didn't realize Broadlands has great rates after 12 in winter every day. $35 to ride, $25 to walk. Maybe 15 people on the course, nice firm fairways, greens as good as anywhere public in winter and played in 3.5 hours.

When my wife and I went to the Ice Hotel in Sweden, The Icebar had a fridge to keep items from freezing.
