Update 8/17 - New board going live today.

Update 8/14 - ***Migration work continues. Estimate Go Live to new board 8/17***

Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member's experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.

Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.

Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.

We remain the world's largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.

So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.

A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.

We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

Looking for some info. I am going to be in Seattle all next week with family. Looking to maybe play Chambers. They have a 2:50 tee time available and sun will set around 7:35. What are chances I could get the round in before it gets dark? Seems decent, but if they don’t police pace of play, I imagine rounds could easily take over 5 hours.

I think you answered your own question. Pace of play is policed, but that doesn't always guarantee a 4 hour round nor does it preclude a 5 hour round. You may finish the last two holes in twilight, but there are no trees on the course to block any sun. If you haven't played there and are looking to get on, I'd take it.

4 hours and 40 minutes is probably fine. As Kas said, even if it's at or past sunset for the last hole, it's still light enough to play. Plus pretty cool sunset over the water.

If it's a full day, I would be surprised if you could play in 4:40. It's a tough course people take a lot of pictures on. That being said, I would still play. It's very good and you should still be able to see the last hole or two even if you are approaching 5 hours (which I think is very possible).

Any updates? I'll be in the area in a couple of weeks and deciding whether to play or not.

How were conditions? Did it play firm and fast?

The latest post from Chamber's Bay Instagram shows how well the greens are rolling

I play it saturday but got to play on 4 of the new greens before they closed it. They are fast and firm. You never attack the greens at Chambers IMHO. You have to know where to land it and land it about 5-7 yards short and let it role out. Caddies will be a good choice but a yardage book will help

Played it Saturday, got the twilight rate of $99. Went off at 2:40 and 2:50. By the time we got to about the 13th, there was no one else on the course- it was really tranquil and a fantastic way to spend a Saturday. Had nasty weather for about a hole and a half (playing 3 and teeing off on 12) and had some wind in spots through about 12/13, but after the conditions were fantastic. No rangers on the course, played in about 4:45, but that was mostly due to a: holy sh*t did I forget how hard of a walk that course is. 56 flights of stairs up/down. By comparison, we never cracked 50 playing 36 a day at Bandon. And b: When the weather would hit, that would shut us down for a good 5-10. We could see they were quick squalls and since no one was behind us, we'd just throw our rain gear on and wait out hitting our next shots.

    tl;dr: You should be fine.

The course does a fairly good job of maintaining pace
